The Purpose…
The Scriptures so aptly define my purpose in setting up this web site.
In a dual prophesy concerning not only the time of the Prophet, but also
concerning the last days, the Prophet Jeremiah tells us in Jeremiah 23:9ff…
9. Mine heart within me is broken because
of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and
like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of
the words of his holiness.
10. For the land is full of adulterers; for because
of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are
dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.
11. For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in
my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.
And then beginning in verse 16 the Prophet amplifies the problem…
16. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not
unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain
(fill you with false hopes): they speak a vision of their own heart, and
not out of the mouth of the LORD.
17. They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD
hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh
after the imagination (stubbornness) of his own heart, No evil shall come
upon you.
And then in verse 18…the Prophet addresses the problem by asking a provocative
question…
18. For who hath stood in the counsel of the
LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word,
and heard it?
And then in verses 19&20, the Prophet addresses the resultant judgment
of God…
19. Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone
forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon
the head of the wicked.
20. The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he
have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in
the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
Notice the phrase, "in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly".
In the last days…"ye" referring to us…shall consider it perfectly! Continuing
on in verse 21, Jehovah God Himself, through the Prophet declares…
21. I have not sent these prophets, yet they
ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
And then in verse 22 the Prophet answers the question he posed back
in verse 18…
22. But if they had stood in my counsel, and
had caused my people to hear mywords, then they should have turned them
from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
How very sad. The very things that happened in Jeremiah’s day; false
prophets speaking the visions of their own hearts, not out of the mouth
of God, are happening today. The message that was preached in Jeremiah’s
day is the same message being preached today. Jeremiah 23:17 told us of
the prophets in his day…
17. They say still unto them that despise me,
The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that
walketh after the imagination (stubbornness) of his own heart, No evil
shall come upon you.
The greatest danger today, is that men quote the truth of the word of
God, but then interpret it falsely. Let me just give a few examples…
-
I’m sure you’ve heard the statement that "the Christian is under grace
and not under the law"…inferring that the Christian is not really subject
to the law of God…
-
I’m sure you’ve heard the statement that "love fulfills the law"…again
inferring that the Christian is not subject to the law of God…
-
I’m sure you’ve heard the statement "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
and thou shalt be saved" inferring that mental accent makes one a Christian…
Every one of the above statements are truth from the word of God…but
everyone of the inferences made from them are lies from the pit of hell.
All of these subjects will be addressed by the truth of the word of God.
Why are men teaching these false doctrines? Jeremiah addresses the answer
first with the question in verse 18…
18. For who hath stood in the counsel of the
LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word,
and heard it?
And then Jeremiah re-inforces the answer in verse 22…
22. But if they had stood in my counsel, and
had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them
from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
The Prophet Isaiah describes the process in Isaiah 28:9-10…
9. Whom shall he teach knowledge? and
whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the
milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
All teaching must be based solely on the word of God and interpreted
by the word of God…line upon line…precept upon precept. This then is the
purpose of this web site…to put line upon line…precept upon precept and
teach the real truth of the word of God. In Jeremiah 13:17 the Prophet
expresses my heartfelt attitude by saying…
17. But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and
run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.
